Baking has been a part of my life since childhood, with my grandmother and mother passing down family recipes that I still use today. I began my business nearly 15 years ago, starting with cupcakes and celebration cakes sold at farmers' markets. It was here that I discovered my passion for the artistic side of cake decoration, leading me to focus on creating realistic sugar and wafer paper flowers for wedding cakes.
Each cake I create is a work of art, made with a personal touch, attention to detail, and a commitment to perfection. I take pride in using high-quality, local, and fresh ingredients, which make my cakes truly exceptional. I can’t thank Sarah enough. I had an idea in mind and she brought it to life. The finished product was beyond my expectations and was absolutely delicious. I’m only upset I had to share so much of it. Sarah is oh so sweet, and proactive. She had gone out her way to communicate directly with my event planner at the hotel to find out further information. Sarah made our amazing wedding cake for the end of May and we could not be more impressed. From the initial design process, the creative licence we gave her to make it look phenomenal, to the incredible flavours (including a custom request!) she could not have done more to make our cake and our day truly special. Wow! Our wedding cake was perfect! Sarah created exactly what we hoped for, and the white chocolate rose flavour was incredible, too! The cake was so important to me, and it was truly everything I asked for. My jaw really dropped when I first saw it! Our guests loved it, and there was only a little left (which we polished off easily over the next two days)! We also loved working with Sarah. We planned our wedding from overseas and found communication a breeze. Sarah sent jars with samples of cake flavours to a UK-based wedding guest whose family loved testing the options and voting for the final flavour. This process was so easy, and I'm very grateful! We highly recommend working with Sarah!
Sarah created an absolutely fabulous cake for our late July 2023 wedding. While my husband and I hadn't initially planned to have a luxury cake, my mother-in-law insisted on gifting us the cake and passed along to us Sarah's website, which she had found via Google. As keen birdwatchers, my husband and I wanted a cake that featured some of our favorite birds. After we had discussed some ideas and shared some inspiration photos, Sarah created a unique and gorgeous design and executed it beautifully. The cake was truly the star of the day -- our guests loved it! The details of the hand-drawn fondant birds and the watercolor backgrounds were works of art in themselves. I also should note that the cake wasn't just beautiful in appearance, but it was also the best-tasting cake that I have ever eaten. We had banana, lemon curd, and almond bakewell flavors, all of which were excellent. I still think about the almond bakewell from time to time! Sarah was also phenomenal to work with throughout the entire process. As were were trying to organize a wedding from three different countries, things could get hectic, and Sarah was always incredibly patient and understanding with us. She completed the entire cake delivery and assembly and even collected the stand from our venue the day after. She also included a number of complimentary allergen-free cupcakes for our guests which allergies, which so kind and thoughtful. I am so glad that we had Sarah to create our wedding cake, as it really did add so much joy and character to the day. If you are considering a custom wedding cake and are on the fence about it, I would definitely say to go for it, and to work with Sarah! She is an absolutely lovely person, a phenomenal baker, and a talented artist -- I can't recommend her highly enough!! Thank you for everything!!
If you want both a beautifully artistic and tasty wedding cake, look no further. Sarah was all aboard our vision for a colourful fun wedding cake from the start and the brainstorming design process was very enjoyable with her. We could see from the photos of both stunningly elegant classic wedding cakes and outrageously detailed cakes that she is able to create edible art, but we didn’t want to compromise on taste and were pleased to find out that she really cares about both aspects. She worked with us to provide two sets of samples and slightly adjust them until we got the flavours just perfect for our tastes (we like less sweet than most people) and combination of traditional guests and some vegan guests, plus guests with serious allergies who needed to be worked around. 10/10, can’t fault anything about Sarah’s cake, prompt communication and enthusiasm.
Our wedding cake from Sarah at CakeAways was simply perfect. The entire experience with Sarah was great from start to finish. We tasted several cake flavours - we had difficult choosing as they were all great (texture, taste and not overly sweet). We chose the double chocolate, lemon curd and spiced carrot. Sarah was really flexible with the order of the flavours and the look of the cake, which had edible flowers pressed into the icing. Sarah communicated with us and the venue, and delivered the cake incredibly smoothly. All our guests commented on just how beautiful the cake was, and how great it tasted! We would highly recommend Sarah and CakeAways.
